Keeping Our Sanity During Baby's First Year

Week 8: Blowin’ Raspberries

I am 8 weeks today and our baby is .63 inches and .04 ounces and is the size of a raspberry. By now the baby’s head is larger than the rest of her/his body and the ears and eyelids are developing. Also, fingers and toes are forming and the legs and arms have wrists and elbows that move.

Although the baby still looks like a sea monkey in most of the illustrations for week 8, it is only a few weeks away from being an official “fetus” (that happens in week 11).

On a side note, I am currently watching MTV’s 16 and Pregnant and I have to say, it makes me feel like my husband and I are going to be just fine. I feel so sorry for these girls, so many of them seem clueless about what their life is going to be like after they have the baby and their boyfriends are even worse. A lot of them drop out of high school and have to live on a shoestring budget. They lose their friends and they just look stressed and sad. It makes me realize how fortunate I am to be in a place where my husband and I are happy and excited about having a baby.

Yeah, after watching this show, I don’t think we have anything to worry about.
