Keeping Our Sanity During Baby's First Year

Week 9: Pass the Olives

I’m a couple days late on this post but oh well. We had house guests this weekend and lots of functions to go to so I didn’t really have any time to write posts and I’m now playing catch up. I’m not complaining, though, it was great to see our friends. Especially since we have pretty much told all of them about the nugget. It is such a relief to not have to hide our pregnancy from our close friends. I can’t wait until we hit week 12 and I can tell my work and extended family and the whole world. I’ve never been a good secret-keeper when it comes to my own secrets and this is killing me.

This week, our baby is .9 inches and is about the size of a green olive. The baby weighs .07 ounces and his embryonic tail is disappearing (hopefully it is and he won’t end up like Viggo Mortensen). The hands and feet look less like paddles and have more formed fingers and toes. The eyes are fully cooked but the eyelids are fused shut for another 16 weeks. His or her reproductive organs are already developing but won’t be fully formed for another few weeks.

As for me, I am not showing but I am bloated and my pants are tight. I still have the same symptoms and they aren’t getting any better but they aren’t getting any worse, either. All in all, I am feeling good and looking forward to my next ultrasound in week 12.
